About Julie Reeves

I started Jewel Communications in July 1996. I have over twenty-five years of experience in corporate training, technical writing, copy editing and proofreading. For the past 12 years, I have focused primarily on proofreading, editing and QA work as well as virtual production.

I began my career as Communications Coordinator for Manulife Financial, where I was responsible for administering the marketing communications budget, overseeing supplier relations, handling desktop publishing and print production for internal projects, and developing computer-based presentations.

At the same time, I also acted as Program Co-ordinator for the Center for Crisis Communications and Management, a company that specialized in training public relations practitioners in the areas of crisis communications and strategic planning. In my role with the CCCM, I developed an extensive database of senior public relations practitioners, co-ordinated all marketing and seminar material, handled seminar registrations, and organized catering and site management for the seminars.

After leaving Manulife Financial, I joined The Rider Travel Group, Canada’s largest corporate travel agency, as New Business Co-ordinator. My main focus was to research and write major business proposals for the Vice President of New Business. In addition to proposals, I also created sales presentations, and wrote and produced a monthly sales newsletter.

In 1995, I joined Hazell & Associates as Manager, Corporate Communications and Systems, where I was responsible for internal and external communications, business proposals, technology procurement and administrative staffing.

Since going into business for myself in 1996, I have helped develop materials for various training and communication programs for a wide range of clients. By combining expertise in word-processing, desktop publishing, writing, editing, and project coordination, I have been able to provide support for many different projects, including large-scale national training programs, content translation and corporate change initiatives.

I hold a bachelor of arts degree from Bishops University and graduated with high honours from Seneca College’s Corporate Communications program.
